Marimbula
The Marimbula (mah-REAM-boo-lah) or Bass Kalimba is related to the cajón in origin as well as construction. In Cuba, the instrument provided the bass line in a style of music called son (rhymes with tone).
Wil-Dog of Ozomatli used one on "Canto", the new release from Los Super Seven, "Embrace the Chaos" by Ozomatli, as well as for the "Price of Glory" sound track. I built Ben Harper one with a spruce back that serves as a double cajón.
All Kotz Marimbulas can be ordered with internally mounted pickups. System includes buffered preamp.
